Value Selection

ASPxTrackBar is a slider control that provides end-users with fast and easy visual data selection capabilities. End-users can select a value within ASPxTrackBar by positioning the handle within a range of values limited by a developer (using MinValue and MaxValue). The drag handle position can be changed in the following manner:

  • By clicking on the track or scale

End-users can click the track or scale in a needed place in order to change the track bar value. The availability of the scale is controlled by the ASPxTrackBar.ScalePosition property.

    See animation.
  • By clicking on decrement and increment buttons

An end-user can click increment and decrement buttons on order to change the drag handle position by value, defined in the ASPxTrackBar.Step property. The availability of increment and decrement buttons is controlled by the ASPxTrackBar.ShowChangeButtons property.

    See animation.
  • Via the mouse wheel

End-users can scroll the mouse wheel in order to change a drag handle position. If the ASPxTrackBar.AllowMouseWheel property is set to false, end-users cannot use this manner to change a track bar value. Note that if the track bar is focused, scrolling the mouse wheel changes a track bar value, even if the mouse pointer is not over the editor: if an end-user wants to scroll the page, he or she should remove focus from the track bar.

  • By dragging the handles

End-users can drag the handle and drop it at the required position. The availability of the drag handle is controlled by the ASPxTrackBar.ShowDragHandles property.

    See animation.
  • By pressing arrow keys

If the track bar is in a horizontal orientation mode, end-users can use left/right arrows to change the track bar value, if in a vertical orientation mode - up/down arrows.

  • Bar Highlight moving

If the ASPxTrackBar.AllowRangeSelection property is set to true, end-users can select a range of values instead of a single value. The ASPxTrackBar control provides end-users with the ability to move the selected range along the track by dragging the track highlighted part called bar highlight.

    See animation.

Note that the ASPxTrackBar control automatically marks the last clicked handle as focused and highlights it by default. An end-user can change its position using arrow keys, increment/decrement buttons and the scroll wheel. Note that a click on the track or a scale changes the position of the nearest drag handle.
