Silent Install Mode

The DevExpress .NET Products Installer installs .NET assemblies that contain DevExpress visual controls and components, and integrates them into your Visual Studio IDE. In addition, this tool installs demo applications that illustrate the functionality provided by DevExpress .NET products. To learn how to obtain the installer tool, refer to the Download the .NET Products Installer section in this documentation.

This document describes how to install DevExpress .NET Products in silent installation mode, which allows you to run the installer from a command line as a console application, and specify all necessary parameters.

To run the installer in silent mode, specify the /Q switch with one or more other parameters:

DevExpressNETProducts-18.2.x.exe /Q [-U] [-R]
      [p1 p2..pN]

The /EULA:accept parameter is mandatory when installing DevExpress products. You must accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to proceed with installation.

For example, the following command will run the installer and provide the required credentials:

DevExpressNETProducts-18.2.x.exe /Q /EMAIL:myaddress@company.com /PASSWORD:MYCSPWD /EULA:accept

The following command will silently uninstall DevExpress .NET products from your machine:

DevExpressNETProducts-18.2.x.exe /Q -U

The table below lists all allowed parameters and their descriptions.

/Q Run in silent mode. If no other parameters are specified, the installer repairs the current installation.
/EULA:accept This is a mandatory parameter that you must specify when you install DevExpress .NET products in silent mode.
-R Repair.
-U Uninstall all products.
/DEBUG Create the installation log file (setup_trace.log) in the folder, from which the installer was run. Note that if the installer was run from a .bat file that resides in a folder different from the installer folder, the setup_trace.log will be created in the same folder with the .bat file.
/EMAIL:email email is your email address, which is used to log in to the DevExpress account.
/PASSWORD:pwd pwd is your password (case sensitive), which is used to log in to your DevExpress account.
/INSTALLPATH:path path is the installation directory, with which you may replace the default path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\DevExpress 18.2\Components.

If you wish to install only specific products, you should specify their names as parameters, separated by the space symbol. For example, to install WinForms controls only, you can use the following command:
DevExpressNETProducts-18.2.x.exe /Q /EMAIL:*****@*****.com /PASSWORD:******* /EULA:accept "Windows Forms"

Also, you can write "Windows Forms:True", "Windows Forms:Yes" or "Windows Forms:1" to install specific products; and "Windows Forms:False", "Windows Forms:No", "Windows Forms:0" to exclude products from the list.

Note that demos and source code can be also included or excluded during the silent installation mode. To do this, specify the following parameters:
"Demos:True" "SourceCode:True"
"Demos:False" "SourceCode:False"

Below is the full list of products that can be opted in or opted out during the install mode:

Please note that some products are cross-platform (e.g., XtraReports); in such cases, the required dependencies (dependent products) will automatically be selected and installed.

After executing the installer application, one of the following error codes will be returned:

  0 - No issues
1 - Common installation error - inspect installation log files to determine the issue
3 - Invalid email or password was specified to log in to the DevExpress account - check your credentials
4 - No access to the web service that validates the email and password provided - try running the installer again later
5 - EULA was not accepted during installation - you must specify the /EULA:accept parameter
6 - The installation file is broken - try downloading it again
7 - The current versions of OS and .NET framework are not supported by this installation
