Hierarchical Resource Specifics

Resources can comprise a hierarchy. The XtraScheduler Suite provides the Resources Tree control to display a tree of resources structured hierarchically and to synchronize the display with the Timeline View or the Gantt View views.

To specify resource relations, the Resource data source must contain an additional field to specify a parent node of the current node. The parent key field (named ParentId in our example) contains the Id value of the parent node.

Root nodes do not have parent nodes. The parent key field for such nodes is null.

To customize the sort order within the resources tree, you are advised to add a column IdSort. Then, while creating a project in Visual Studio, you can invoke the ResourcesTree designer to add an IdSort column to the control, specify column sort order and set the Visible property of the column to false.

Below you can find the MS SQL Server data table script that enables you to create a Resource table containing required fields and then fill it with sample data.
