Data Management Controls

The Choose Application UI section illustrates most popular UI types and enumerates navigation controls by DevExpress that can be used to emulate these interfaces. In turn, this article lists DevExpress controls that can be placed inside these UI shells to work with main application data.

Expanded Data Browsing and Analysis

Controls in this group can be used to perform CRUD operations on large data sets and/or visualize data in a specific manner.

  • Data Grid
    Displays data from a data source in a standard tabular form or various other forms (as a banded grid, cards or tiles).

  • Vertical Grid
    The grid control that displays data in a tabular form with data fields rendered as rows, and records rendered as columns.

  • Pivot Grid
    Emulates the Pivot Table feature of Microsoft Excel.

  • Scheduler
    Displays scheduled data using one of the available views and provides the capability to edit, save and load appointments.

  • Charts
    Visualizes data using dozens of 2D and 3D diagram types.

  • Gauges
    A huge collection of circular, linear, digital and state indicator gauges.

  • TreeMap Control
    Represents data as a set of proportionally sized rectangles.

  • Map Control
    Displays raster and vector maps. Supports both popular map services (Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap) and custom map data servers inside your corporate network.

Expanded Document Editors and Viewers

Controls in this section display and edit DOC, DOCX, RTF, HTML, PDF and other documents.

  • Rich Text Editor
    A word-processing control inspired by Microsoft Word.

  • Spreadsheet
    Emulates the Microsoft Excel look and feel and allows you to create, load, edit, save and print spreadsheet documents.

  • PDF Viewer
    Allows you to display PDF files directly in your WinForms application, without the need to install an external PDF viewer on your end-user's machine.

Expanded Data Entry Forms

  • Editors
    A comprehensive set of data editing tools - buttons, text boxes, drop-down editors, trackbar controls, calendars, etc.

  • Layout Manager
    Creates and maintains a consistent layout of controls.
